A Sydney gamer has pleaded guilty to assaulting his pregnant partner after their argument was inadvertently live-streamed as he played Fortnite.

Luke James Munday, 26, pleaded guilty to common assault on Monday before magistrate Ian Cheetham in Picton Local Court.

The Telstra network engineer was using the streaming service Twitch to broadcast his game in December 2018 when he attacked his girlfriend Grace Campbell.

Thousands of gaming fans around the world watching his popular 'MrDeadMoth' livestream saw the escalating screaming match that led to the assault.

Campbell had demanded Munday end an all-day gaming binge in their Oran Park home in Western Sydney, so he could eat dinner with his family, when he snapped.

Campbell threw cardboard boxes at her boyfriend and begged him to stop playing, until he got up and moved off-screen.

There was what sounded like a slap, followed by panicked screams from both Campbell and the nearby girls aged three and two.

Off-screen, Munday had slapped the left side of her face, before she threw further items and he pushed her to the floor.

Concerned fans called the police and Munday ended up before the court, charged with assault.

Munday showed remorse for his actions and his sentencing was adjourned to August 26.

Campbell has also been charged with common assault of Munday after allegedly throwing a kettle at him early on Sunday morning, giving him minor injuries.

She was arrested and charged with two counts of common assault (domestic violence), assault occasioning actual bodily harm (domestic violence) and contravening a domestic apprehended violence order.

Campbell has been granted bail but must report to Campbelltown police station three times a week and must not contact Munday.

Campbell has previously said the pair had dated for five years, and everything was fine until he got addicted to Fortnite.

She said he played the game for much of their relationship, but the addiction only gripped him in the past year.

'He got famous and started playing six to eight hours a day for his fans,' she said.

'As he got more addicted he changed, he became an angry person.

'He wasn't spending enough time with the kids and it was a struggle every day to get him to leave the computer for anything.'

Luke Munday's brother Daniel has said his brother had stuck with Campbell because he didn't want his children to suffer the same childhood as him.

Munday 'never knew his father' and his beloved mother Suzanne Munday died about when he was just 12 years old.

He was raised by his grandparents and his brother spent time in the foster care system, Daniel Munday said.

'He's worried that if he leaves her she will get custody of the kids and he'll be lucky to ever see them. He doesn't want them to have the childhood we did,' he said.
